FAQS

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

  • What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

It is a Medical Treatment that enhances the body’s natural healing process by inhalation of 100% oxygen in a Hyperbaric Chamber, where the atmospheric pressure is increased and controlled. It is used for a wide variety of treatments usually as a part of an overall medical care plan.

Under normal circumstances, oxygen is transported throughout the body only by the red blood cells. With Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, the oxygen is dissolved into all of the body’s fluids; the plasma, the central nervous system fluids, the lymph, and the bone and can be carried to areas where circulation is diminished or blocked. In this way, extra oxygen can reach all the damaged tissues and the body can support its healing process. The increased oxygen greatly enhances the ability of the white blood cells to kill bacteria, reduces swelling, and allows new blood vessels to grow more rapidly into the affected areas. It is a simple, non-invasive, and painless treatment.

  • What are the benefits of HBOT?

It has long been known that any healing of the body cannot take place without appropriate oxygen levels in the tissue. Most illnesses and injuries occur and often linger, at the cellular or tissue level. In many cases such as circulatory problems, non-healing wounds, and strokes, adequate oxygen cannot reach the damaged area and the body’s natural healing ability is unable to function properly. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy provides this extra oxygen naturally and with minimal side effects.

It improves the quality of life of the patient in many areas when standard medicine is not working. Many conditions such as stroke, cerebral palsy, head injuries, and chronic fatigue have responded favorably to HBOT.

  • What conditions do HBOT treat?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is used to treat all conditions which benefit from increased tissue oxygen availability, as well as infections where it can be used for its antibiotic properties, either as the primary therapy or in conjunction with other drugs.

Insurance and Medicare consider the following conditions for HBOT to be covered for payment:

    Air or Gas Embolism

    Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

    Compartment Syndrome/Crush Injury/Other Traumatic Ischemias

    Decompression Sickness (Bends)

    Diabetic and Selected Wounds

    Exceptional Blood Loss (Anemia)

    Gas Gangrene

    Intracranial Abscess

    Necrotizing Soft Tissue Infection

    Osteoradionecrosis and Radiation Tissue Damage

    Osteomyelitis (Refractory)

    Skin Grafts and (Compromised) Flaps

    Thermal Burns

The following conditions are off label which may or may not be covered by insurance or Medicare:

    Alzheimer’s

    Autism

    Cerebral Palsy

    Lyme Disease

    Migraine

    Multiple Sclerosis

    Near Drowning

    Recovery from Plastic Surgery

    Sports Injuries

    Stroke

    Traumatic Brain Injury

  • Are there different types of hyperbaric chambers?

There are  two types of Hyperbaric Chambers: Mono-Place and Multi-Place.

Mono-Place Chambers are designed to treat a single person.

Whereas a Multi-Place Chamber is designed to hold several people at one time.

  • How is hyperbaric oxygen therapy administered?

It is administered in a private setting and a state-of-the-art, Mono-Place or Multi-Place Chambers, Both Chamber options, depending on the circumstances, allow our trained Technicians and Chamber Attendants to closely monitor the patient at all times.

Patients are in constant view and communication with the attending technician via an intercom and CCTV. During your treatment session, you may watch a movie, listen to music, read a book, or just rest.

  • Is HBOT safe?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is prescribed by a Doctor and performed under strictly controlled Medical supervision. Although there can be possible minor risks like all medical treatments, overall Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is extremely safe. The risks, however minimal they will be, will be discussed with you before you sign your consent form for therapy.

  • Are there any side effects of HBOT?

The most common side effect is barotrauma to the ears and sinuses caused by the change in pressure. To minimize this risk, patients will be taught and will learn equalization techniques to promote adequate clearing of the ears during compression. The same as popping your ears in the mountains or a plane. Occasionally some patients may experience changes in their vision during their treatment period if the treatment is exceptionally repetitive and long term, regardless these changes are usually very minor and temporary. A very rare side effect is oxygen toxicity which is caused by administering too much oxygen. This is why the treatments are very strictly monitored to remove these possibilities.

  • Can I use HBOT for general health and wellness?

In short, Yes. This is why we like to focus on “Physiological Benefits” as opposed to medical conditions. It is highly recommended that you speak to us about having a general screening before you use the hyperbaric chamber. (I.E. being fit to use hyperbaric therapy). As low as the risks are, this will help to minimize any potential problems that you may have.

  • Can children use the chamber?

Children can safely undergo this therapy. There are no age restrictions. To put children at ease, parents are always welcome and sometimes they must join our tenders when their children are in the chamber.

  • How long before I see treatment

Everybody is different, very often people see immediate benefits, whilst others may not notice them until they have completed a series of Hyperbaric sessions. In terms of the treatment duration, this will be discussed and agreed upon with the doctor, it is not uncommon for many of the benefits to be reported up to four weeks following the treatment completion.

OZONE THERAPY

  • What are the benefits of medical ozone therapy?

Suppression of infection by killing viruses, bacteria, and yeast build-up, especially those hard to treat resistant pathogens that can be found in chronic conditions such as Lyme and other Tick-Borne Diseases

Ozone improves circulation by enhancing the flow of blood through your body

Ozone works as an immune modulator, helping to keep the immune system at its optimum working order

Ozone increases the uptake of oxygen by stimulating the enzyme DPG (diphosphoglycerate), helping cells to process all the oxygen they need to function properly. This aids in killing resistant anaerobic infections whilst providing the cells in the area with the extra oxygen that is required to heal.

  • Contraindicators for ozone therapy

Unfortunately, if you have one of the following conditions, you will not be able to have this therapy.

All cases with Blood Coagulation Failure

    Bleeding Organs

    Thrombocytopenia

    Ozone Allergy/Ozone Intolerance

    Hemorrhagic or Apoplectic Stroke

    Acute Cardinal infraction

    Epilepsy-Seizures

    Acute Pancreatitis

    Hyperthyroidism

    Pregnancy or Breast Feeding

    Unknown Fever

    G6 PD deficiency

  • How does cryotherapy work?

Cryotherapy is a hyper-cooling process that lowers a person’s skin temperature to approximately 1? C for a period of up to two minutes by enveloping the body with extremely cold air at temperatures ranging from -130 C to -160 C. This extremely cold temperature, in turn, reduces inflammations throughout the body amongst many other health benefits of cryotherapy.

During the treatment thermo-receptors under the skin send signals to the brain. This intense cooling induces several giant physiologic changes in your body.

  • How cold does it get?

The ICE QUEEN Capsule reaches temperatures between 130° C. to -160° C.

  • What are the contraindications for ice queen cryotherapy?
